The diptych project consists of a master study and a response piece to it. The chosen master work is Albrecht Dürer's "Three Heads of Children."

For my personal interpretation, I decided to keep the theme of three heads, but instead of copying Dürer’s composition, I used them to represent my past, present, and future self. When I was working on Dürer’s piece, his line work reminded me a lot of hair texture, which made me want to focus on drawing figures for my own response. Instead of drawing myself three times in the same way, I thought showing different ages and stages of my life would tell a more interesting story.
In the drawing, my past and present selves are looking at each other, creating a sense of reflection—remembering where I came from and feeling proud of where I am now. I originally was also gonna use the same technique to draw my future self, however, I wanted to present my future self in a way that is not fully defined and shaped yet. Dürer's precise line work did not align with my intentions, hence I took a different stylistic approach to the face.
